I have always loved to color. As a kid I loved using crayons, colored pencils and markers to color in my coloring books. In my attempt to learn to meditate and slow down, I heard about adult coloring books and how therapeutic coloring could be. So, I went out and bought several adult coloring books, along with some markers and colored pencils.
While I loved the intricacies of some of the designs, I was always somewhat frustrated with using colored pencils or markers in these books. Colored pencils didn’t give me the saturated color I was looking for, and markers always seemed to bleed through to the other side. Well, when I was given the chance to review these GL-Sail Diamante Tipped Gel Pens, I thought eh, but then I saw that they recommended using them in adult coloring books, so decided to give them a shot.
Boy, am I ever glad I did! These gel pens have some of the most saturated colors I’ve ever seen. I love that there is a variety of style of pens in this set. There are regular gel pens, there are neon colored pens, and then there are my two favorite styles. I love, love, love the metallic and the pastels. The metallics are bright, saturated and have a sparkle to them. The pastels remind me more of a chalk like look, which I like a lot. Both look gorgeous on an abstract coloring page.
I was impressed with how detailed I could get with the fine tip pens. They glide smoothly over the paper, providing great coverage. And something that pleases me to no end, is the fact that they do not bleed through to the other side. Overall, I think these pens are great. I even enjoy writing with them on occasion, but think I’ll be keeping them expressly for my coloring meditation practice.
