A Letter of Apology

Dear Authors, Publishers, PR Reps, Book Tour Organizers and you Dear Readers,

My apologies for letting you down. You entrusted me with the privilege of reading your work in exchange for a review and I blew it. I fell off the face of the Internet. I didn’t fulfill my promises. I didn’t read the books you sent me. I didn’t write the reviews you expected of me. I didn’t update this blog. I didn’t answer emails. Nor did I show up on social media much over the past year.

It’s been nearly a year since I posted anything on this blog. A YEAR! Much has happened during this time, but nothing extravagant or life-altering or earth shattering, just life. My responsibilities at work increased (promotions tend to cause this). Household size has decreased: we’re completely empty-nesters now. All our children have moved out into the world. We’ve gone on vacation and I’ve taken a couple solo road-trips (who says you can’t move past BIG fears in midlife?). Reconnected with estranged family members, lost weight, gained some back. Had health related issues and recoveries.

I have no “real” excuse for this dereliction of my duties, mostly just “life” happening. Life got busy, time got away from me. I lost interest in the things I love doing the most, namely Reading and Writing. So, yeah, life. After writing this, it sounds as if I was suffering a bout of my dreaded depression, but I assure you it wasn’t that.

What hasn’t happened is posts and updates concerning my reading life on the blog. That is going to change. Over the next 6 months or so, I will be focusing on reading and reviewing my backlog of requests on Netgalley and Edelweiss. I have about 10-12 books that need to be seen to first.

I know that I missed a few book tour posts that I committed to, and for that I am sorry. If you are an author or book tour organizer that I flaked on, and you’d like me to read and review the book still, please reach out to me. If I’ve never flaked on you, but you’d like me to read your book & review it, please reach out to me also. I will be getting back to the book tours once the backlog is completed.

Once the old stuff is out of the way, and possibly while I’m working on it, I will be including other content. I have some interesting discussion posts planned as well as bookish gift ideas, book news and lists. I plan on sharing my book bujo planning process and updates, my reading goal progress, a few giveaways (my hope is to hold at least one giveaway each month) and I will likely share a few book-related supply reviews as well.

So, never fear dear readers, I am back and have plans to begin again.
As Sonya Parker says:

“It’s never too late to start over. Who knows you might get it right this time, and if you don’t get it right you can always start over again.”

With All My Love and Thanks,
